About Proposition 65
California's Proposition 65, also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, requires certain businesses to provide warnings about exposure to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
Alcoholic beverages, including wine, are subject to Proposition 65 warning requirements because alcohol consumption may increase cancer risk and can cause birth defects when consumed during pregnancy.
